FEA, TOPOLOGY & MOULDFLOW
EXT313C
BRIEF:
The advent of CAD and digital designing provides designers with a multitude of tools at their fingertips. Being able to take advantage of the feature-set of the programs they use increases the value of their skill set. This project held the task of redesigning an object that is under force based off data gathered from simulations.
TOOLS:
- SolidWorks
- Finite Element Analysis
- Topology optimisations
- Plastic mould flow analysis
- Iterative digital workflows
- Tech drawings
- Report and documentation
OUTCOME:
This project provided an approachable introduction to complex engineering tools I have available to me as a designer. Using a familiar product with clear forces at play. Being able to analyse the data and make informed design decisions allows for informed decisions to be made.
LEARNED SKILLS:
- Understanding of technical tools and feature sets of the SolidWorks.
- Iterative and informed design decisions
- Data analysis and application
- Project documentation and organisation
